About us

Galleywood Timber Products Ltd was formed by Jim Roberts in 2010. Having worked for other companies in the timber industry from a young age, Jim had gained the knowledge and experience to build a successful business, working with many customers with whom he had dealt with previously.

Galleywood Timber is unique in that we supplement the service we provide with the use of our own Port Facility – The Port of Wisbech. Furthermore, we also run a liner service into the Port using our own vessels – The Baltic Express and the Baltic Arrow. Through decades of hard work, we are proud to service our own Port facility and Timber importing company to provide a complete supply solution to pallet and packing case manufacturers throughout the UK.

At its core, Galleywood Timber is a family-run business. We deliver a professional and personal service via a small team, which offers unrivalled experience of the industry.

Due to its close relationship with the Port of Wisbech, Galleywood Timber can offer regular updates on shipping, provide storage for stock and organise haulage to any customer. It is this advantage that makes Galleywood Timber a unique and an attractive choice for customers.

Meet the team

Jim Roberts

Managing Director
Jim has worked in the timber industry for over 30 years bringing a wealth of experience to Galleywood. Most of his career has been spent sourcing timber for the pallet and packing case industries. Galleywood was set up in 2010 as the UK emerged from a recession. There was a shortage of material in the market and Jim set out to supply a few of his friends in the industry. The business quickly grew from there and now, with the help of his family, it is poised for further growth. When he is not working, Jim enjoys golf and playing badminton – although mainly for the vets team these days.

Adam Roberts

Sales Director
Adam spent 3 years at Keele University studying Astrophysics and Biochemistry until 2015. During his summer breaks he worked for a mineral testing company and started there permanently after his graduation. Whilst Adam found the scientific sector a challenge, it was no longer for him and after some time, he decided to join the group in 2016, aiding his father on increasing Timber Sales for Galleywood Timber. Over the years, Adam has experienced first-hand what challenges can be thrown at all parts of the business from the vagaries of the Timber market, Strains on supply, Shipping complications and storage implications. In doing so he’s developed an approach that shields customers from these issues, always finding room for improvement. In his spare time, you’ll find Adam tending to his plants in his greenhouse or attempting to lift something he shouldn’t on a barbell.

Callum Dunsmore

Finance Director
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2016 at a leading independent accountancy firm based in Cambridge, Callum spent a further 6 years in the audit team gaining extensive experience across a variety of sectors and client types. His association with Galleywood goes back to 2014 when he first became involved with the year-end accounts preparation, and he has been advising the company during its journey of growth ever since. Jim persuaded Callum to make the leap from practice into industry and he joined the company as Finance Director in 2023, further signalling the positive direction of travel for the business. In his spare time Callum will likely be found running, swimming or generally being active to try and make up for the hours spent sitting at a desk.

Rebecca Line

Port Director
After graduating from University of Kent with a first class degree in Forensic Science, Rebecca worked as an analytical chemist before transferring her skills to commodities trade. For 6 years she worked at Bureau Veritas specializing in testing, inspection and certification of bulk non-ferrous metal concentrates. During this time she gained a wealth of experience working with ports around the world, including site visits to ports in Netherlands, Belgium and Taiwan. Rebecca went on to join the family business in 2021. At Galleywood, Rebecca manages the schedule for our ships MV Baltic Arrow and MV Baltic Express, as well as all ships destined for Wisbech. This is in addition to her role as ships agent at Port of Wisbech. Outside of work, Rebecca plays for a local Women’s Basketball Team and enjoys renovating her home.

Victoria Hamblin

Company Secretary
Victoria joined the family business in 2014. From school she worked in the retail industry for 2 years before joining a large company dealing in the financial sector. She soon gained promotion to a managerial role and worked with them for a further 3 years until moving to the family business. At Galleywood, she is the company’s secretary responsible for the credit control function and producing management accounts. When she is not working, Victoria is entertaining her two young children and supports her husband’s menswear retail business, The Local Merchants.
